Transplant Trailblazers
The Transplant Trekkers are looking for Trailblazers—people who are dedicated to becoming informed advocates for organ transplant, busting myths, and spreading knowledge as they build the organ donation community.
Why might you want to become a Transplant Trekker Trailblazer?
You know someone who has been touched by organ failure.
You understand that the many myths about donation prevent lifesaving transplants.
You know that you don’t need to be in the medical community to share what you know.
You realize the need for living donation is overwhelming: over 90,000 wait on the national transplant list for a kidney or liver. Every day 22 people die waiting for a kidney.
You know the need can be met. If one in 500 eligible donors stepped up, there would be no wait for a kidney in the US.
You want to share the latest news in transplant:
You no longer must “match” your recipient to get them a kidney.
Age limits are rising and determined on a case-by-case basis. The oldest living kidney donor to date is 84 years old.
Donor surgery, in almost all cases, is laparoscopic, meaning shorter hospital stay, less scarring, less pain, and quicker recovery.
You know that perhaps not everyone is ready to think about being a living donor, and you can also inspire folks to register as a deceased donor at RegisterMe.org.
If you think you’d be a good fit to be a Trailblazer, we’d love to hear from you! Please complete the form below and we’ll be in touch.
